Day 5. Design principles & first brief.

Heirarchy, Alignment, Contrast, Balance, Repitition. Heirarchy, Alignment, Contrast, Balance, Repitition. Heirarchy, Alignment, Contrast, Balance, Repitition. Heirarchy, Alignment, Contra......

Top two are an example of repitition and balance - hopefully that's obvious. They're meant to capture all five of these to be truely effective and what's considered good design. But we worked through each principle to hammer the point home. We were given a preset document with a load of shapes to play about with - eventually that's what I came up with. (Read something about Spencer Pratt and the New World Order this morning, so I think that infiltrated my subconcious somewhere.)

Bottom two was our first actual brief. In short, design an ad for Havaianas with preset text, font and images. As well as being in black & white. The bottom one was my final attempt. Perhaps a touch on the plain side, but when I thought 'formal' I thought proper, strict, to-the-point and simple. Maybe a play on the Hawaiian influence on the product would have added a little more 'fun' to the image.
